Good Dawg Training Philosophy
Science-based
Reinforcement-based training allows your dog to think and develop power and choice. We mainly use shaping to train behaviors step-by-step. This sets them up for success and forms a strong foundation.
Kind and ethical
I love animals and couldn’t imagine using dominance, pain, fear, and avoidance in dog training and puppy training. The use of force is unnecessary. We focus on building a strong relationship between you and your dog based on trust, consistency, and understanding of their motivation. 27 years of marine mammal training taught me that patience, consistency, kindness, and reinforcement are the keys to successful long-term results.
Supportive
Every dog and situation is unique. Most of our services can be provided in group sessions or privately at our training facility. During private training sessions, we can adjust the pace to be slower or faster than in group sessions.
Client-friendly
My explanations and reasoning are simple to understand. You will have access to written step-by-step lessons to refer to after each training session.
Pet relief area
We understand that potty accidents can occur. If your older dog tends to mark their territory, we kindly ask you to bring a belly band or male wrap for them to wear while at Good Dawg Training. You can find both reusable and disposable options at most pet supply stores and online. Additionally, we have an outdoor relief area for pets located to the left of our main entrance. Thank you.
